Demorou, mas saiu!

Minha letter.

Por favor, me ajudem. Leiam, opinem, critiquem, digam o que está ruim. Porque eu, a esta altura do dia (lá se vão quase 8 horas no pc, a maioria lutando com a tal da carta) eu já não consigo distinguir mais nada.

Dear family,

My name is Mariana, but my family and friends call me Mari. I am 25 years old and I am very pleased to talk to you. Let me tell something about me.

I live in a beautiful city called Florianópolis, wich is located in Brazil’s south region. There are a lot of beaches here (almost 40), some calm, but others very rough. These ones are surfer’s favorites. I live here with my family: my mother and father, my brother, who is 21 years old and my sisters. I have two sisters: Carolina, who is 23 years old, and Maria Fernanda, who is almost 5. She is the little princess of the family, and I have been helping my mother taking care and playing with her since she was a baby. Presently, we have a great time together in the afternoon, playing and learning new thing for her age, like reading and writing.

I describe myself as a patient, calm and responsible person. I love to read, write, draw, travel, practicing sports and know new people and new places. I love my family and enjoy spending time with them. I am also funny, enthusiastic and creative, that is going to help with the children, because I love to create new games and ways to have fun. I have a true respect for children in each phase of their development. I think every child has different needs, and part of the responsibility of take care is to perceive that need and try to supply it in the best way.

I am graduated in Fashion Design at Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC) and I am currently working in the area. It is a good course to stimulate creativity, especially for arts, crafts, drawing, but in general too, for example finding creative solutions for several situations. By the way, I am always looking for something new to learn. I love to study and learn new things, not only about my career. I am Adventist, and learning about Christ and reading the Bible are some of my favorite studies.

I have been working as a volunteer in a school. It is called “Arte & Saber” and there goes children from 3 months to 6 years old. I am used to help the teachers with anything it is necessary: with the babies, I entertain and play with them or put in bed. With the elder children I play, help to wash their hands, to brush teeth, to comb hair, at snack time and with arts activities. In sunny days, we go to the backyard and play see-saw and swing. One day, I did a puppet theatre play. All the children loved to see!

In the other hand, I am a counselor at the “Desbravadores”, a kind of scout’s organization from the Adventist Church. At the “Desbravadores”, I am responsible of a girl’s unit. There are eight girls with 10 to 15 years old. The whole club has about 35 kids (boys and girls), organized in five unities. I have gone with them to a three day’s camp this year, it was very funny! We learned about natural life, hiked, took river bath and many other camp activities. At Sundays we have regular meetings and sometimes we do food raisings and visits. The kids (specially the girls of my unit, whom I have more contact) really likes me and I love they too.

About the au pair program, my interest on being an au pair is because I love children and I think it is a good way to do a pleasant work and gain new experiences, growing as a person. By the way, it is a great opportunity to improve my English skills, know new places and people and learn about the American culture. I would to spend this year being a “Big Sister”, taking care, playing, teaching, learning and discovering, being a part of a lovely family, maybe your family.
